Christ Care Groups

You are invited to visit one of our Congregation's ChristCare Groups!

ChristCare Groups meet for 90 minutes twice a month, usually at St. John Lutheran Church. Each group spends some time in building relationships and caring for one another, biblical equipping (applying God's Word to our daily lives), and encouraging one another to grow as Jesus' disciples. Groups are not only for church members - we warmly welcome people from our community and visitors to our congregation.

We invite you to try a ChristCare Group because we think you'll like it! Any of our groups would be delighted to welcome you to a meeting.

Simply E-mail the church with your name, telephone number and days and times that you are available to meet.

~ Bible Quote ~

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interest of others.

~ Philippians 2:3-4

What are ChristCare small groups?

ChristCare Small Groups are gracious, warm and always welcoming. A place where 3-12 people come together with Christ at the center. Through reading of Scripture, they learn to care for one another, grow in knowledge of God and His will, and have their faith nurtured.

When ChristCare Groups meet, they participate in the following four kinds of activities:

  • Community building and care
  • Biblical equipping (Bible study)
  • Prayer and worship
  • Missional service

ChristCare Group Leaders are members of St. John. Through a fun and information filled 40+ hour course, they have received training in group dynamics, interpersonal relationships and Biblical equipping.

When do ChristCare small groups meet?

St. John ChristCare groups meet twice a month. Group members decide place and time. Meeting may be 1-1/2 hours in length Most groups meet at church, but could meet in homes if the group chooses. The first session of every small group would meet at St. John.

How will I benefit from ChristCare small groups?

Sunday morning gives us little time to develop a relationship with those we talk to for a few minutes. This can cause us to feel lost, lonely, and disconnected from God's family.

As a member of a ChristCare group you open yourself to God's grace through caring relationships with other people. New friendships are formed; support is given to each other through good and bad times. Your faith is nurtured, your knowledge of Scripture is deepened, and you become equipped to do God's work, in your family, your place place and daily life. Get to know others at St. John an discover how rewarding and enjoyable it is to pray, read and discuss the Bible in a small group.

How do I join a ChristCare small group?

Participation in an eight-week small group experience entitled, "Beginnings" will give you a "taste" of ChristCare Small Group Ministry. Beginnings introduces the four aspects of ChristCare, and you can then decide whether or not you'd like to continue in a ChristCare Group. This is a great way to meet others and try small group participation with no commitment beyond the 8 week commitment.

If you desire more information, please contact a ChristCare Equipper by contacting the church office.
