Praise Band

The St. John Praise Band is made up of singers and musicians who enjoy making music together. It’s all about leading worship as a group – no pressure to perform solos! Anyone is welcome to be a part of the Praise Band - average to excellent singers, middle school to professional level instrumentalists and anyone who likes to shake, rattle or (drum) roll with percussion!

The Praise Band started in June of 2005 after a St. John member/high school student formed a committee to assist in the planning of a Praise Band.

The Praise Band leads worship on the second Sunday of each month. There is usually one rehearsal prior to each Praise Sunday. There is always a rehearsal on the morning of each Praise service. Singers and instrumentalists are asked to attend rehearsals in advance of the Praise service in which they are participating. If a musician cannot participate on a particular Sunday, they just need to inform the coordinator in a timely fashion. Praise Band members are not required to participate ever month. The coordinator hopes to have plenty of musicians participating so that no single musician feels pressure to be there every time! Simply put…do what you can…play/sing when you can and keep the coordinator informed!

The mission of the Praise Band is to provide excellent and entertaining music throughout each Praise service while leading the congregation through the songs. Words and every aspect of the service are projected onto a screen for the ease of the congregation to follow along if they don’t want to rely on the printed bulletin.

For more details, contact the Praise Band Coordinator, Jill Quigley or the Music Arranger, John Quigley.

~ Bible Quote ~

"They ministered with music before the tabernacle, the Tent of Meeting, until Solomon built the temple of the LORD in Jerusalem. They performed their duties according to the regulations laid down for them."
